Overview

Company Information: Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service and innovation has an opening for an Area Manager First Shift to work in our Carmel, IN location.

 

Position Summary:

Provides daily leadership, oversight, coaching, and training facilitation to groups of employees engaged in production activities. Coordinates production schedules and works closely with other staff and employees to execute shipments for on time delivery. Responsible for product quality requirements, application of established manufacturing process, and personnel allocation. Administers policies and controls practices in the areas of human relations, attendance, safety, quality, 6S, and budget. Provides support and resources to maximize continuous improvement efforts. Facilitates problem solving and conflict resolution efforts in order to maximize individual and team potentials. Work involves a considerable amount of initiative, decision making and high level of independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and support area of responsibility
    • Completes training plans for production employees to identify job required skill training and other training topics relating to methods and processes which improve efficiency and quality.      
    • Monitors the training process to ensure employees receive the identified job skills and career development training.
  • Daily communication and coordination with teams, other managers and departments.
    • Work collaboratively with supply chain, engineering, quality and other departments to reach business goals.
  • Direct work assignments in accordance with the production schedule, plans and organizes activities to meet deadlines.
    • Coordination of the production group to best utilizes personnel. Provides training for departmental personnel and assist in the selection of employees.
    • Authorizes overtime and conducts performance evaluation.
    • Prepare and maintain production reports and records, taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Direct the production of component parts and products efficiently within established specifications for quality and volume with an emphasis on employee safety.
    • Reviews and recommends changes to master production schedule to best enhance productivity. 
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects, working with other departments
    • Develops methods of improvements tin current production practices to promote efficiency and lower costs
    • Identifies and recommends production objectives and capital investment plans.
  • Ensures consistent policy and procedure administration per company guidelines. Prepares and administers corrective actions, progressive discipline, and performance improvement plans. Tracks employee attendance completes and delivers annual performance evaluations and individual training plans, assists employees in career and personal development activities.
  • Consults with the Director of Manufacturing and Human Resources Manager to discuss work force availability and staffing needs, and/or overtime utilization. 
  • Participates in the selection of employees through the internal posting process and external new hires.
  • Flexible hours the facility runs 24/7 will be responsible for all shifts.

Qualifications

Requires two years of supervisory / management work experience in a manufacturing environment.   An Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree with a major in either a technical or business field is desired but not required. Flexible hours the facility runs 24/7 will be responsible for all shifts.

 

 

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.  Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
