Company Information: Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service and innovation has an opening for an Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to work in our Roseville Corporate Headquarters.


Position Summary: Highly visible leadership role that is instrumental in Horton achieving growth initiatives. Responsible for operational aspects leading to successful launch of new products. As part of NPI team(s) achieves time, cost, performance, and other objectives of the project. Works closely with Design Engineering while interfacing with the worldwide Operations team, including 3 manufacturing locations, Directors of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality, and a team of over 20 manufacturing, quality, and supply chain professionals. Leads or facilitates key activities such as Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews & IATF Core Tools in support of achieving HIP deliverables. Very knowledgeable of existing manufacturing processes, but also drives long-term manufacturing technologies to keep Horton at the forefront. In conjunction with Operations leadership team, helps set long-term manufacturing & supply chain strategy.





1. HIP Timelines and Deliverables for Manufacturing

1.1 Participates on HIP project teams, representing manufacturing
1.2 Provides input related to existing capabilities to support launch
1.3 Acts as project manager for operations’ (manufacturing, quality, & supply) deliverables
1.4 Proactively manages actions to hit timelines for gates and eventual launch
1.5 Drives performance to time, cost, and quality objectives of the project
1.6 Keeps VP of Ops and Directors informed and leverages guidance

2. Understanding of Existing Manufacturing Processes & Capabilities 

2.1 Maintains knowledge of each plant’s processes & capabilities
2.2 Participates in plant process design & layout reviews for new products
2.3 Quickly assess how new products would drive impact / change
2.4 Use knowledge to interface with sales and/or customers as needed

3. Design Engineering Awareness of Manufacturing

3.1 Maintain significant interaction with design engineering
3.2 Participate in design reviews with knowledge to drive designs favorable to manufacturing
3.3 Facilitate training, travel, or other means to increase awareness of manufacturability

4. Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews

4.1 Leads cross-functional reviews as part of HIP process
4.2 Captures issues/gaps and drives resolution

5. IATF Core Tool Use

5.1 Understands requirements of Core Tools - APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP
5.2 Complete or participate on teams completing requirements of HIP stages

6. Supplier & Manufacturing Technology Development

6.1 Stay abreast of manufacturing technology requirements determined by product roadmaps
6.2 Jointly attend regular tradeshows and complete benchmark studies as needed
6.3 Work with Procurement to identify, select, and qualify new suppliers of purchased materials
6.4 Work with machine vendors/distributors to support introduction of new manufacturing technologies for new product introductions and/or cost savings
6.5 Provide input into the annual and long-term capital planning process

7. Strategic Make vs Buy Decisions

7.1 In support of new product introduction, help make key make vs buy decisions that support the financial objectives of the company
7.2 Provide analysis with support of accounting

8. Collaboration & Common Initiatives

8.1 As part of the Operations leadership team, participate and support major objectives and annual operating plan initiatives as needed.
8.2  Other duties as assigned



Ability to travel up to 50%



Base requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ of total relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality
  • 2+ years’ experience specifically working in or with manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong project management skills


Preferred requirements:

  • Experience in design engineering, advance manufacturing engineering, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with IATF Core Tools - APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP
  • Experience specifying, quoting, and launching new manufacturing equipment
  • Discrete manufacturing experience including metals, plastic injection molding, automation, & assembly technologies & processes
  • Project Management Certification
  • Lean or Continuous Improvement Methodology Training & Experience
