    Horton, Inc., a leading provider of engine cooling solutions worldwide, has an opening for a Software Developer, to work in our Roseville Corporate Headquarters.

     

    Position Summary:

    The Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of custom software solutions. Developed solutions will focus on delivering a high level of automation and efficiency across the entire business. This position will focus on the creation of new applications and tools to streamline key processes, automate manufacturing operations, and reduce manual procedures. The software developer will also work to improve existing applications and participate in the evaluation and implementation of 3rd party applications.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Understand the needs of the business and participate in the generation of new ideas and development projects. Provide sustained interaction with departments including manufacturing, marketing, engineering and product development to ensure continued value and improvement. Meet with users and departments to discuss ideas and gather project requirements. Analyze existing software solutions to identify areas of improvement and potential replacements. Develop a project plan and project justification for ideas before they are moved to the development phase.

     

    Develop software applications to satisfy pre-determined business requirements. Evaluate available 3rd party solutions when applicable. Provide project management support to ensure the successful and timely completion of projects. Create implementation plans and assist in providing ongoing support for applications. Ensure all solutions are fully documented and accompanied by adequate training materials. Establish software development standards and methodologies for the creation of custom software. Follow industry best practices to ensure software is stable, maintainable and secure.

    Qualifications

     

    EMPLOYMENT SELECTION CRITERIA

     

    • Minimum vocational, technical or associate's degree; 4+ years of related experience including experience with manufacturing environments, process automation, process improvement, SDLC, software testing, change control, requirements gathering, UAT, user training and development using multiple modern programming languages.

    JOB SKILLS REQUIRED:

     

      • Microsoft .NET, Visual Basic, HTML, PHP, JQuery, Java, JavaScript and Python, iOS and other modern based programming languages.
      • CS fundamentals in data structures and algorithm development.
      • Analytical skills with capability to interview users, solicit feedback, and compile functional requirements for programs.
      • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and create work.
      • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
      • Ability to work closely with non-technical users.
      • Ability to manage and coordinate internal and external resources.
      • Strong customer service, time management, and written/verbal communication skills.
      • Knowledge of development processes including requirement gathering, development, testing, UAT, deployment and support.
      • Communication skills and the ability to train and support end-users.
      • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software issues.

     

    JOB SKILLS DESIRED:

      • Manufacturing experience
      • Siemens Teamcenter PLM development
      • Experience Leveraging Cloud services (Azure or AWS)
      • Software Development project management
      • MS SharePoint development
      • Experience with manufacturing automation and robotics
      • Creation of software development processes and procedures
      • Database management (MS SQL, Oracle DB, MySQL)
      • Data architecture, reporting, data validation and BI
      • Creativity to develop simple but effective user interfaces
      • Other duties as apply
