Horton, Inc., has an opening for a Application Engineering Co-op at our Corporate Headquarters in Roseville, MN. This is an onsite position with the ability to be a Winter/Summer 2025 or Summer/Fall 2025 Co-Op experience.

Position Summary:

The Application Engineering Co-op position will perform varied duties of a complex nature.  The candidate will support integration of existing products into new applications with general guidance from the Manager and direct guidance from a full-time engineer / mentor.  Key skills include design, analysis, DFMEA, test planning, and component/system testing to ensure products achieve performance and reliability targets.  The candidate will use testing results and advanced analysis tools to approve product applications and make recommendations where required. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Motivated, self directed, and the ability to make risk balanced decisions.
  • Modeling and drafting of concepts into designs that can be tested.
  • Conducts computer aided analysis of new concepts with FEA and/or CFD.
  • Tests materials and concepts, working closely with the test lab staff to design tests and document results.
  • Develops test designs to measure the function and quality of products and to test new ideas or modifications of existing products.
  • Provides technical expertise in support of improvements to existing product designs; authorizes product design revisions.
  • Provides engineering support to the process of modification of existing products to meet customer requirements, while retaining product function and quality.

Qualifications

Engineering Co-op Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of school completed with strong academic performance (3.0 GPA or above)
  • Junior, Senior and Master's status
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong initiative and decision-making skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter who can work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across the organization\Selfless, positive, get-it-done attitude

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
