Warranty Technician Position Summary:

Receive, code, test unit, and disassembly of returned customer product as required. Perform data entry of warranty claims in Oracle system. Determines whether claims are eligible or ineligible for payment, in conformance to company policy. Responds to inquiries regarding warranty claims. Prepares reports summarizing activity, including minor warranty project work. Analyze RGA’s and determine if the claim is valid or if it can be put into stock. Supports the quality department with warranty root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Warranty Technician - Responsibilities:

  • Processes warranty claims generated by OEM, distributor and major fleet accounts.
  • Receives and codes claim forms for entry into the warranty database, verifying accuracy and proper completion.
  • Applies Horton policies to each claim and determines whether to award credit or replacement based on the facts in each case. Communicate with the Quality and Warranty Administrator to resolve claim issues, as required.
  • Performs data entry of claim forms. Documents process changes for consistent claim processing.
  • Issues a notice of disposition of each claim to the appropriate parties.
  • ssues acceptance or denial of RGA or as part of transactions in support of sales policy, such as re-stocking or other routine business.
  •  Take photos of units or return units to customers when warranty work is denied for reasons outlined in standard procedures (when required). Create and print out UPS labels for parts being sent back to customers.
  • Answers about inquiries regarding the status or disposition of warranty claims.
  • Receives and retains records of emails, calls, and mail regarding the status of warranty claims.
  • Answers inquiries, indicating the status of claims or reasons underlying the disposition of claims with the ability to resolve more complex inquiries. Escalates problems that cannot be resolved with the appropriate personnel for action.
  •  Monitors warranty analysis throughput to meet customer root cause for failure timeline. 

 

Minor Areas of Responsibility:

  • Supports ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 compliance.
  •  Small project work as needed.

Qualifications

Warranty Technician - Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and plus 3-5 or more years of technical related work experience to develop and understand product familiarity.
