Overview

Horton, Inc., has an opening for a Paint Line Operator to work in our Westminster, SC location. This is a 1st shift position and standard hours are 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday. Occasional overtime may be required. Pay starts at $19.90 per hour and depends on experience. This is a direct hire, temporary position that is expected to last no more than 6 months.

 

Position Information:

This Paint Line Operator position reports directly to the Supervisor and must work in coordination with co-workers to be effective. This position is primarily responsible for loading and unloading the paint line. A forklift license may be required for this position.

Responsibilities

Paint Line Operator Responsibilities:

  • Will be expected to be able to perform daily tasks.
    • Read and follow instructions on routings and work instructions for each job. Note specific requirements for interdepartmental component transfers.
    • Checks stock bins for adequate supplies of packing materials and any other items needed. Contacts material handler or Production Lead/Supervisor if shortages exist.
    • Complete all departmental paperwork, such as routings, assembly tickets, downtime tracking sheets, production status sheets and daily checklists. Communicate questions and problems to Lead or Supervisor.
    • Paint product and assemble packaging as instructed on work instructions or routings.
    • Responsible for the safe operation of machinery used to paint assemblies and sub-components. Machinery may vary from hand tools to paint line or even lab equipment, as determined by area.
    • Perform frequent quality checks as directed by management or a Quality Representative. May be required to use quality inspection tools such as gauges, micrometers and/or calipers. Continuously inspect part quality (Ex: alignment of bolt holes, missing rivets, incorrect stamp of part number, etc.).
    • Relay all information about current job to oncoming shift.
    • Maintain production rate on each job.
    • Will be responsible for turning on/shutting down machines within their assigned area.
    • Load and unload paint line.
    • Assemble cardboard packaging per routing sheet.
    • Pack fan assemblies per customer requirements on the routing sheet.
  • Ensure data accuracy before transacting in inventory system. Elevate issues or suspected discrepancies to management.
  • Will be required to fill in as Operator in other departments as directed/rotated.
  • Train new operators when assigned.
  • Practice 6S and always maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Paint Line Operator Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma, or equivalent (GED), is required. 
  • Previous relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to work well in a group and individually.
  • Some degree of mechanical aptitude may be required.
