Overview

Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Large Fan Specialist (Temp assignment) to work in our Westminster, SC location. This is a 1st shift position and standard work hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. Occasional overtime may be required. This position is expected to last no longer than 6 months. Pay starts at $22.24 per hour and depends on experience.

 

Position Information:

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and must work in coordination with co-workers to be effective. This position is primarily responsible for the production of quality product by operating different types of machinery to assemble product. This job does require regular heavy lifting of up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Large Fan Specialist Responsibilities:

 

1. Will be expected to be able to perform daily tasks.

  • Read and follow instructions on routings and work instructions for each job.
  • Checks stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assembly, parts and any other items needed. Contacts material handler or Production Lead/Supervisor if shortages exist.
  • Complete all departmental paperwork, such as routings, assembly tickets, downtime tracking sheets, production status sheets and daily checklists. Communicate questions and problems to Lead/Supervisor.
  • Assemble product as instructed on work instructions or routings.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of machinery used for pre-assembly components..
  • Obtain first piece and last piece buyoff from the Quality department.
  • Perform frequent quality checks as directed by management or a Quality Representative.
    • May be required to use quality inspection tools such as gauges, micrometers and/or calipers.
    • Continuously inspect part quality.
  • Relay all information about current job to oncoming shift.
  • Communication throughout shift to material handler and Lead/Supervisor.
  • Maintain production rate on each job.

2. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions and blueprint specifications. Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.

3. Verifies quality specifications by measuring completed component/product.

4. Will be responsible for the operation and set-up of all simple and complex machines within their assigned area.

5. Use of machinery such as sit-down riveter, stand-up riveter, balancer, and overhead cranes.

6. May be required to obtain a forklift license to aid in packaging.

7. Knowledge and use of hand tools such as drills.

8. Perform riveter set-ups.

9. Perform manual true-up with correct hand tools.

10. Ensure data accuracy before transacting in inventory system. Elevate issues or suspected discrepancies to management.

11. Will be required to fill in as Operator in other departments as directed/rotated.

12. Train new operators when assigned.

13. Practice 6S and always maintain clean and safe work areas.

14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Large Fan Specialist Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma, or equivalent (GED), is required. 
  • Previous relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to work well in a group and individually.
  • Some degree of mechanical aptitude may be required.
  • Previous experience with presses or similar equipment may be essential.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide Visa sponsorship.
