Overview

Horton, Inc. has an opening for remanufacturer to work in our Britton, SD location. This is an hourly position with a starting wage of $24.52 per hour and depends on experience. Standard hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with overtime, as needed. 

 

Reman Position Summary:

Inspects components, remanufactures, assembles, paints, tests, packages and transports fan clutches and subassemblies to finished goods area.

Responsibilities

Reman Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assembles units using new or salvaged parts.

1.1     Laser etch/stockroom:   Pulls parts from stockroom and uses a handheld electronic device.  Laser Etch serial/model number onto PFD or FMFD.   Press or screw studs into PFD or FMFD. Enters job number in computer to generate the serial numbers for the laser.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, lifting 7-50 lbs.-- (50%).  Drive forklift (20%)

1.2     Journal Bracket Station:    Enters job number into computer to generate the blueprint for quality inspection. Verifies journal bracket, inserts cartridge, and preloads journal bracket on vise. Adds PFD or FMFD to pallet.   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, pushing with finger, lifting 5-30 lbs—(70%).  Operates hand truck approx 1500 lbs (30%).

1.3     Bearing Press station:  Enters job number into computer to verify proper bearing and spacer usage.  Enter date codes of bearing used.  Press bearings into sheave.  Assemble parts to journal bracket.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, lifting 7-50 lbs (70%).  Operates motorized hand cart (30%).

1.4     Grease and Clutch Pack station:   Verify proper air cap and clutch pack.  Assemble parts, apply grease and install clutch pack.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, twisting, reaching, gripping, lifting 1-7 lbs-- (80%). Pushes small baskets with approx. 630 lbs (20%).

1.5     Liner station:  Verify proper liner.   Install liner to torque.  Air test unit to preset specifications—pass/fail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Repetitive, twisting, reaching, gripping.  Lifting 1-7 lbs (100%).

1.6     FMFD-PFD/PA station:   Install lid, perform final test to preset specifications—pass/fail. Uses computer to enter work order, generate print and inspect.   Inspect unit using a measuring device (Manual or electronic).  Enters measurements into computer and verifies to specifications. Inspection occurs for first unit of each build.    Loads unit onto paint line using a lifting device.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, lifting 7-45 lbs.  

1.7     Paint:  Prepares unit for painting.  Uses standard industrial spray paint equipment, applies an even coat of protective pain to units.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, spinning unit with hand.  Lifting of 3 lb spray gun.  Paints 50% of time and other 50% of time assists with b, f, or h.

1.8     Packages and prepares units for shipment to customer: Prebuild boxes as required for job. Enters job into computer.  Verifies the unit and additional hardware/literature to computer print/BOM.  Also verifies model and serial stickers to what is stamped on unit. Attach labels and serial numbers to unit.   Using a lifting device, inserts unit into box from conveyor.   Secures unit with packing material and seals box. Place boxes on pallets per standard operating procedure.  Install LPN label and secure with rubber band. Uses material handling equipment to move finished goods to the shipping area. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping. Lifting 7-65 lbs—(50%), make boxes 25%, Computer 10%.  Uses material handling equipment—stand up forklift and electric pallet jack 15%

  1. Sub assembles clutch packs using new or salvaged parts.

   2.1  Collects parts and prepares for assembly a sufficient quantity of each to complete the number of units specified by the production schedule.

   2.2  Assembles clutch packs, following standard assembly procedures and checking continuously for quality.

   2.3  Performs visual quality checks on individual parts.

   2.4  Enters accurate productivity / efficiency data into computer.

   2.5  Uses computer to check work queues, inventory levels, and other production related tasks.

   2.6  Install face seals into air caps to maintain production levels.

   2.7  Reworks units as needed.  Disassembles units and replaces faulty components or corrects assembly errors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, pushing downward, some gripping, lifting parts 1-7 lbs—(85%).   Push/pull small baskets of 630 lbs once or twice every 1 to 2 hours.

  1. Performs basic personal computer functions in various software systems included but not limited to:

   3.1  Entering inspection production approvals and productivity/efficiency data.

   3.2  Using the business operating system to check work queues and inventory.

   3.3  Using the Horton Intranet to access quality information, blueprints, safety information, and other production related information.

  1. Rework units which fail to pass quality control checks or tests. Disassembles units, which do not meet standards and replaces faulty components or corrects assembly errors.
  2. Qualifying Journal brackets, sheaves, and air chambers: Visually pre inspect part.  Measure part and enter measurements into computer.   Answer questions to verify specific part.   After part identified, ID label is printed.  Move parts to inventory by using various types of material handling equipment.  Uses electronic device to add parts to inventory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Repetitive, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, push/pull.  Lifting 7-35 lbs—(85%), 35 to 50 lbs (5%). Uses material handling equipment (10%).

  1. Provides training in work methods, procedures, and work instructions to employees.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned by area manager.

Qualifications

Reman Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is a plus.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. This job is not eligible for sponsorship.
