Overview

 Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Maintenance Technician II to work in our Westminster, SC location. This is a 1st shift position and standard work hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 5:30pm with occasional on-call responsibilities for 3rd shift, as needed.

 

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician completes assigned maintenance/facilities duties, working closely with other maintenance staff, tool and die personnel, and outside service vendors to monitor compliance to federal and state environmental regulations. Keeps all equipment operating in a safe and productive manner. Maintains all plant facilities and production systems in good operating order.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

 

1. Performs mechanical / electrical maintenance and repairs on machine tools and production equipment to provide a high level of machine availability and reliability.
2. Responds to requests to diagnose and repair machines that are not functioning properly, using manufacture’s service manuals and electrical schematics to guide troubleshooting.
3. Performs work within a variety of technical areas, including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls.
4. Provides training and assistance to operators regarding maintenance that can be performed by operators, or actions that can be taken to avoid problems with machines or facilities systems.
5. Works alone or as a team with other technicians & engineers (outside vendors as available) to properly diagnose Root Cause of equipment problems and apply appropriate fixes.
6. Responds to Service Requests and/or WOs in a timely fashion and completes the required work as efficiently as possible, and at an acceptable level of quality.
7. Completes WO records & enters detailed descriptions of work performed to maintain appropriate equipment records and insure proper repairs were completed.
8. Performs scheduled PMs on time and per the specified task list to insure Maintenance KPIs for PM Completion % & Equipment DT % are achieved.
9. Assists with fabrication of various types of framing, machine tool shielding and guarding stands, and fixturing. Demonstrated use of welding, plasma cutting, sawing, grinding, and general shop fabrication equipment a plus.
10. Directs machine relocation activities by disconnecting power, air, water or other connections and resets machines in new locations, leveling and re-connecting service lines.
11. Well trained and proficient in working with plant industrial electronics and high-voltage electrical system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
12. Specifies parts and supplies to meet expected machine performance requirements.
13. Assists with disposing and recycling of various production related waste products: e.g. cardboard, metals, coolants, oils, etc.
14. Assist with spill containment, and handling.
15. Coordinates activities of outside vendors who participate in periodic PM work on machines.
15.1 Coordinates activities of sub-contractors who perform electrical, plumbing, or other building maintenance functions.
16. Maintains clean and safe work areas – Strong 6S.
17. Strives to improve technical capabilities through continuous technical training & seminars
18. Demonstrated maintenance technical skill matrix competency rating >/= 4.50
19. Role will develop into the designated trainer for newly hired maintenance technicians
20. As with everyone on the team, other duties may be assigned to support the overall success of the company.

Qualifications

Maintenance Technician Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Requires a 2 year maintenance related technical degree and 4 years plant maintenance experience
  • OR 10 years industrial plant maintenance work experience.
  • Licensed forklift operation is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided now or in the future for this position.
